Thread: warfighters

  1. Pity!

    All things can change,
    including weapon frames ;-)

  2. Looking good. How loud is the sound on your system? Some outdoor gear can rack up that 600ft easily while their sounds are practically impossible to hear at that distance.

I remember one US based company using a backpack with a large speaker case inside. That should allow for some good bass which small speaker areas just can't produce.

  3. We got 800 ft out of the SCAR-H during daylight.
Speaker system is loud. We carry a speaker box in the webbing for extra base.

Is anyone else out there up for developing a wirless system?

  4. Wireless System

I'm confused... isn't the Warfighters system already wireless, and in use on your sites?

Sorry if I've lost the plot reading through the posts.

  5. Is this wireless for links between sensors and gun? Though it looks like yours may be connection from Gun to main electronics?

Personally I prefer a simple cable connection over any of the current wireless technologies. Cables are rugged, reliable, easily replaceable and inexpensive. Good quality mil-spec cable connectors can be expensive, but still much cheaper than wireless links.

Wireless links may place significant additional demands on the processor (especially with a very robust protocol designed to minimize errors/dropouts), are subject to RF interference, jamming, noise, multipath. Good ones are not cheap and also require (in most countries) testing/approval/licensing by an an approved agency which can also be quite costly. Even for the field, you will want to ensure no interference caused by FRS radios, cell-phones, blue-tooth or other personal wireless devices.

Even so-called 'pre-approved' RF modules will usually require additional testing and approvals once integrated into an end-product.

Keep in mind... even the REAL soldiers are now having cable harnesses added to their web gear/weapons. Such as the LW (Land Warrior) system. Those sensor cables are not so 'unrealistic' anymore.

If you DO go with wireless links on your systems, it might be interesting to build some devices that can detect approaching opponents based on their RF signature. Might even be fun to 'track down' the enemy with directional radio finders, LOL.

Problem getting bluetooth components is delaying further production of Rets AK6.

We can’t take any orders at this moment and our supply is sold out we are really sorry about this and will post here immediately when there is a breakthrough giving us the opportunity to produce ak6 again! probably in second half of June

Veqtor. They have a wireless link between the tagger and vest for the indoor and outdoor laser tag systems. They were very happy about it at IAAPA Expo (Orlando, FL) last week.
