hey all im new to this stuff so any help would be much appreciated. Myself and my friends were just looking to by some gear so we could play laser tag when we go to oiur farm. Ive been looking at fragtag and bfs, but i was looking for something that i could use as soon as i get it ie. no assembly etc. Where could i find equipment like this ?

I know BFS guns cost around $1000 ea - but are good to go.

Not sure about other brands.

And, welcome to the forum, by the way.

You could always look at importing some LTTO gear, its cheaper than trying to buy a BFS Gun all assembled.

Otherwise Try Fragtag and MilesTag and build your own taggers, more satisfying

There are certainly a few cheap toy versions around, but I'd give them a miss. Have a look for Lazer Tag Team Ops gear or the new Phoenix LTX, both made by Hasbro. Do a search for 'laser tag' on ebay.com.au, there's usually something!

There's nothing ready to go in the $100-$1000 range and something like LTTO will set you back $50-$100 per player. You can always transplant to different casings if you want them to look more realistic.

Milestag 5.XX will set you back $150 or more depending on the casing you use. You can put a MicroMT system together for under $50. These systems do require a bit of electronic and mechanical knowledge and will take time to put together.

i have the electronic and mechanical knowledge to do the assembly but i dont really have the time to make something to the standard to which i would want it. I was looking at the ltto, it looks like it would break quite easily. what do people that have used them before think of them ?

They are really quite solid, I was impressed when I purchased a set a few years back. The deluxe can be hard to aim with, as the iron sights are located on one side and aiming across the top is not easy because of the LCD.

The only real problem with them is that the sensor is located on the gun, which means that often the sensor is covered in normal game play.

so it must be clear line of sight to the sensor for a hit to register ?

That applies to any system, but a system with only gun sensors means you can't get hit from behind and you can look around cover without being hit.

Not the best for milsim/realistic play, fine for less serious games.

its a shame there isnt something more serious then ltto for that is more affordable.

Again, you could always build your own, but slap it into a very simple weapon body - some PVC pipe, for example.
That's probably the cheapest option.

But... for range and reliability... you get what you pay for.

PM Owl as he can put a ready to go fragtag kit together for you.

Yeah, I think (what Ace said) is probably your best option.
