Hey all, just thought I'd post a pic of the new tag gun I'm working on. It's made from the usual, alum channel, PVC pipe, wood stock. Decided to do things a bit different along the way and use plastic enclosures from DickSmith's for the main housing of cct and batts. These boxes are easy to work with, cheap, and come in a large range of sizes. They can of course always be clad in alum sheet for a different look.
Picture shows pen outlines of things which may or may not be done, the unusual design is based on a stock added onto the handle of a SEGA Lock-On pistol, which is the gear I tag with.
Will post more pics as progress continues...now all I need now is a router.

Nicely done. Do you have room for batteries and speaker in there?

The lock-on gear only uses 2 C size batteries which fit nicely into the 'magazine' at the bottom, at the moment I am using a tiny 27mm mylar speaker which fits in the other box behind the circuit. There is room for the normal speaker (57mm) if the circuit is mounted differently and the walls are carved a little. The small speaker is obviously not as loud, but that's what I wanted in a long range weapon. Something a sniper can use without revealing their position. Some will disagree, but I think it equates to the use of a supressor...
Range with the standard lens setup should be around 180m, this prototype actually has a laser pointer mounted in the front section above the tubing, with a switch at the rear. It's only there for testing and will be removed when the rifle is ready for use. I'm planning to make a few of these with all the old modded guns we have, just to get to a uniform standard/quality.

Continuing work on the prototype, everything has been painted black, I like black! Mounted all electronics, switches, batts and lens assy as well as scope. I need to improve my wood working skills a bit, the stock is a little rough, but once I've got it right the next few will be better.
First pic is the near completed unit, second is detail on the plastic enclosure and on/off switch, third pic is a detailed shot of the scope mount. I use 12X3mm alum bar, which is filed at both ends to create the dovetail. This is then countersunk bolted to a piece of 19.05mm square alum tubing. Plastic squares are cut to fit the tubing ends just to neaten it up.

Twins Basil....
Almost finished the second rifle, this time I've stained the stock instead of painting it black. Not sure if I like it yet, might apply another coat to make it a bit darker. If I don't like I guess it will be black
"I see a wooden stock, I want to paint it black" is that how the song goes?!

It looks better black. Otherwise Khaki and the wood stain would go together.

Yes I was thinking of doing the body a nice olive green, I have a toy steyr which I painted green with black scope, mag and foregrip. Again I don't think the wood stock will look any good with that either. I am also experimenting with other designs based on the same main pieces, just using a different stock piece and box configuration.
