A gook gun from vietnam, should be a ripper
A Soviet SVD Dragunov sniper rifle made by Kalashnikov, the same folks who created the AK series. It's a great piece of work but where would you put the lens assembly? They don't come with grenade launcher fittings. If you figure out how to do it let me know because I would love to have one. Nice choice.

Do I smell a .50 caliber?
(My personal favorite is the M-82, but anything in that size range catches my eye.)
Looks like the Tabuk sniper rifle.

This is the dilemna of the rifle for lasertag.
Yes this is a great looking rifle. I know it doe'snt come with one, but could you consider a larger barrel end (like a silencer) and use a 32mm pipe for the main barrel length (so the difference between the silencer and barrel does'nt appear so great)?
or fit it with a 32mm lens, a really high power emmitter (OD10?)and a bore sight to keep the divergance down.

It might end up looking like so:

Ahhhhhhhh. I take that idea back that looks like crap.
Looks weird compared to the
original but it's possible.

Thank you Owl! I love it, and a good section of timber too! That's definately on my to-do list.
Do you know of any other Sniper rifles with silencers?

I think that these XM guns would make excellent LS designs.

I reckon the second last one looks the best. Where did you get those designs from?

Ahhh yes, those guns are supposed to take over as the standered issue weapon for the US military. They are impressive. Almost sci-fi looking. I suspect that was said about the weapons we use today when they were first introduced.

Was doing a search for M1 Chinese Assault Rifles, if anyone has seen the movie "deep rising" (crap movie but the weapons are awesome) and somehow a site for these came up. Yes they were to replace the assault rifles for urban use. or something. I just grabbed the picture for any future use.

Very nice. Hmmm, 38mm lens, 40mm PVC barrel, batteries in the barrel, body like an MP5, MDF frame stock. Oh no, I think I feel the onset of the construction bug again :)

Thanks Dangerous, I have seen that one, its based on the VSS-Vintorez. I think I like the VSS better, there's something about a wooden stock that just feels right for a rifle...
38mm lens, 40mm PVC barrel
bah, 50mm lens, its a sniper rifle, but serouisly, I think I could get away with a 50mm barrel. BTW, theres a scale picture (VSS-Vintorez) in your inbox Built, for obvious reasons I cant print it out at work...

That would be a good one... Printing a VSS out at work.
I can see it now, on the 6:00 news. ;)

There's also this one which appears fairly simple to make but I dunno, it just seems a little boring. http://www.snipercentral.com//tcim89sr.htm
The military nut in me likes this one though.

Owl,
Hmmm got to like that one... especially based around the M4. Would be easy to get spares\ammo, but that's in the real world.
You're right Dangerous, though the Government ensures that things like that are out of our reach in the real world, at least here anyway. These days even if one were legal, it would only sit gathering dust in my gun safe.

I like the look of the tcim89sr. Does anybody know how much the resin would cost to make the stock on it?
