I was just wondering how much you guys that have made your own guns are spending out of curiousity.

The .50 cal that my Dad made cost $8 in steel.

But the vast majority of it was free out of scrap bins and metal worker yards.

Oh, and about 40 man-hours non-stop welding. At $68 per hour for a welder, you work it out.

The steel all up would cost around $100 - $120.

I expect to be able to put the Milestag circuit into it for under $50.

My MP5 cost me about $50 in aluminium, plus $10 in general nuts/bolts/plastic tube, plus $15 for paint. Optionally add to that $130 for a Red Dot scope (but I've heard you can import them from the USA cheaper, but only in some states; Vic its considered a firearm accessory and is a controlled import.)

Labour was around 20 hours, but some of that was experimenting.

Add to that your choice of electronics.

My Bolter has cost me, around $70 in bits (alluminium, lens, rivets etc), the scope cost me around $35 (e-bay), the FragTag circuit = a small fortune in R&D :( But realistically it would all cost a lot less if I were to do it all again.
