View Full Version : New forum software
Well today i upgraded us to a new forum script which is 1000000x better than phpBB was.
It has tones of extra features incluiding:
- Ability to upload attachments
- Subforums
- Customer user titles
to name a few things out of a long list.
It makes a nice change, i'm working on a good style now and it will be up soon so keep your eyes peeled lol.
I converted the old database so no memberships or posts were lost either which is an added bonus!

Wow!
To go from Invision Powerboard (which my forum uses) to PHPBB to vBulletin in only two days is a pretty big culture shock!
I won't disagree with anything if it provides more functionality.
The only thing to do (for me) now is to work out whether this or IPB is better.
Good work with the database.

The only query I have is regarding the time. For me (GMT+8) it currently states the time is 3:39 AM. My local time is 5:33 PM.
I have my profile configured correctly for GMT+8.

I believe this is due to daylight savings? i'm not really sure though... try checking the settings in your 'usercp'
This is easily the easiest forum software to make a theme/skin for and it is so easy to manage and use... it also provides extensive features. However it doesn't come free unfortunately... I am letting laserforums use my liseance at the moment. (www.vbulletin.com for more info about liseancing and prices if your interested dangerious)
I made this skin from scratch in 2 hours based on the one we were using with phpbb so i can't say i would've been able to do that with invision or phpbb. I have used invision a lot in the past and i think it's a great script so unless you want to get vbulletin for a purpose (which i did at the time when i got it, i needed it for a webdesign support forum but that site closed) i wouldn't bother.
I hope that people make use of the new calendar feature too, it will be fantastic.

Ummm, well no.
Sorry.
The forum is telling me that the time here is 10 hours off the actual time.
As I said, I have my cp settings correct (GMT+8 is Perth). We do not have daylight savings in Perth. At all.

That's very strange, i'll
have to check some of the control panel settings, it might be the server time offset (ie the clock on the server is wrong so i have to enter the adjustment on here to fix it)
The funny thing is my time is showing up correctly for GMT+10

I figured it was 10 hours off.
Change topic....
It says I am a moderator.
Is that because you have enabled me to mod the WA sub forum?

Nup
AJ had better luck yesterday.
Rommel i've come to the conclusion that the servers clock isn't set to the correct time, nothing else explains it from what i can think of.

Set the board time to the correct time zone in the US.
ie in the board config.
Sorry I can't be more specific, I normally administer IPB not this software.

Heh, good point now all that remains to be found out is what state in america this server lives in.
